Uptime JurisPage is Uptime Legal’s SEO services and Web Design department. The company is well-established as one of the major players in the Law Firm SEO services market. With two offices, including one in Manhattan, they would be “Big Law” in the SEO and Web Design world.
But despite their Big Law feel, JurisPage has excellent SEO fundamentals. In this review, we’ll go over JurisPage’s approach to SEO, and if their services are right for you.
Uptime JurisPage SEO: Content over Backlinks
As many of you have read in our SEO for Lawyers Guide, there are two main ways to improve your website’s SEO: content and backlinks. JurisPage strongly focuses on the former, and for the right reasons.
Google updated its algorithm multiples times every year, and with every update is a greater focus on content and a smaller focus on backlinks. Looking forward, your work on content creation will only get more valuable over time, while your work in backlinks will become less valuable. JurisPage understands this, which is why content is the backbone of their SEO philosophy.
According to JurisPage, great content will produce backlinks on its own. You don’t want to write content just to make your site look bigger. You need quality content that provides real value to your audience. When you create value, you often get value in return (in the form of backlinks).
JurisPage employs different groups of content writers in-house, divided by practice area. For less common practice areas, the company relies on highly-vetted third parties for content. No piece of content is under 500 words, and they will blog multiple times per month or per week depending on the service you select.
While JurisPage’s content-over-backlinks philosophy is clear, the firm also pursues multiple avenues for backlinks. They will build your firm’s directory listings (from yellowpages to legal directories), and use their partners to promote your content.
Like most SEO services companies, JurisPage will also design your law firm’s website. Each website is tailored to the client, without following a particular template. Here’s a design I liked in particular:
Unlike my recommendation in our post on Conversion Rate Optimization, JurisPage does not always recommend having calls to action on the front page. Instead, their philosophy takes into account the practice area of each firm. According to the company, practice areas like Personal Injury or Criminal Defense need a call to action on the front page, while Business Law and Family Law need to sell you on the aesthetic or trustworthiness first. While I don’t completely agree yet (probably because I work in Personal Injury), the logic behind this web design strategy is sound.
JurisPage’s web design is very high quality, and they focus heavily on mobile design as well. The client (law firm) maintains ownership over the site, and JurisPage will walk you through the steps to edit and add to your firm’s website, if you’re so inclined. They refuse to work for any of your competitors, and they can integrate your website with other programs like Clio, RocketMatter, and Lexicata.
Price Per Click (PPC) Advertising
As a separate service, JurisPage offers PPC advertising. They focus primarily around Google’s Quality Score, where better ads will cost you less per keyword. As we’ve mentioned before, Keywords for Lawyers can be very expensive, and JurisPage focuses on giving you the most for your money.
Additionally, JurisPage keeps data on every PPC ad campaign they’ve ever run. With data from years of experience, they are very confident in knowing what works and what doesn’t for each practice area.
While it’s not their main focus, JurisPage also has experience in using Bing Ads, and they are transitioning into using Facebook ads more frequently.
Price and Discount
JurisPage’s starting price for its SEO package is surprisingly affordable at $699 per month. If you’re looking just for solely blog content without the work on backlinks, Jurispage offers Stand-Alone Blogging for the same price. With the blogging package, you’ll receive more nuanced and greater quantity of blog posts for your firm’s website.
Their PPC campaigns start at $495 per month, where you can put as much additional money as you want into the ads themselves. If you get the PPC and SEO packages together, it’ll start at $995 (saving you $199 per month). Their web design service starts at $3,000.
For SEO, blogging, or PPC, JurisPage require a 6-month contract, and then it’s month-to-month after that.
For readers of Small Firm Legal Marketing, JurisPage is offering a $300 discount on any contract. Just sign up through this link, or mention this blog to receive your discount.
JurisPage’s SEO philosophy (i.e. content over backlinks) is exactly what want in an SEO company. Content should be your firm’s primary focus, and the work you put in now will have long-lasting effects for your firm’s future SEO.
I also like the price; $699 is very affordable compared to other SEO firms. I’m not a big fan of the 6-month contract, but it’s less of a risk than paying thousands per month for a backlink-focused SEO strategy.
Their PPC campaigns look to be very worthwhile, although $495 per month for their data-driven formula seems like a bit much. However, if I am considering a large PPC campaign (thousands per month), I would definitely consider using JurisPage. They pride themselves on their PPC campaigns, and I am very interested to see the results.
The price for web design is on the upper end of the market, so I might shop around before committing. But if you’re interested in the whole package under one roof, go for it.
